रामू और श्यामू की वार्षिक परीक्षाएँ प्रारंभ हो चुकी हैं। आज गणित की परीक्षा थी। श्यामू के माता - पिता इस अंध विश्वास से ग्रसित थे कि कहीं जाते समय सामने से बिल्ली रास्ता काट गई तो उसे तब तक पार न किया जाए जब तक कि कोई अन्य उस रास्ते से निकल न जाए। जबकि रामू यह सब बातों को नहीं मानता था।
दोनों घर से निकले ही थे कि एक बिल्ली । चले अचानक उनका रास्ता काट गई । श्यामू ठिठक गया । वह माता - पिता के बताए विश्वास को आत्मसात किए असमंजस में था कि क्या किया जाए ? क्या हुआ ?
परीक्षा को देर हो रही है । रामू ने पूछा । देखते नहीं , बिल्ली ने रास्ता जो काट दिया । श्यामू बुझे स्वर में बोला । तो क्या हुआ ? इसका परीक्षा से क्या संबंध है ? बिल्ली का रास्ता काटना बड़ा अपशकुन होता है । जब तक कोई अन्य इस रास्ते से नहीं निकल जाता तब तक यही खड़े रहना पड़ेगा।श्यामू बोला और वही रुका रहा।
आज के वैज्ञानिक युग में ऐसी अंधविश्वास की बाते क्यों करते हो? रामू ने कहा और कलाई पर बंधी घड़ी देखी। परीक्षा की घड़ी भी आ ही गई थी।ठीक है , मै ही इस रास्ते से निकल जाता हूं रमुने कहा और तेज कदमों से सड़क पार करके आगे बढ गया।वह समय पर परीक्षा केंद्र पहुंच गया। परीक्षा प्रारम्भ होने में कुछ ही समय शेष रह गया था।
श्यामू भी निराश और आशंकित मन से परीक्षा केंद्र पहुंचा।बिल्ली का रास्ता काटना उसके मन- मस्तिष्क पर पूरी परीक्षा अवधि तक छाया रहा।कुछ दिन बाद परीक्षा परिणाम निकला। परिणाम रामू के अनुकूल रहा और श्यामू के प्रतिकूल। रामू ने श्यामू को समझाया भाई, यह बिल्ली हमारे घरों में रोज इधर से उधर कितनी बार रास्ता काटती है । घर वाले कौन से काम रोक देते हैं?
बिल्ली भी एक जीव है। वह भी चलेगी दौड़ेगी। इसमें शुभ अशुभ कैसा?मैंने यही सोचकर दृढ़ निश्चय किया कि मुझे हर हालत में परीक्षा के लिए समय से पहुंचना है। श्यामू रामू द्वारा सुझाए वैज्ञानिक सोच के मंथन में लग गया।
सही ही तो है कि अब तक न जाने कितनी बिल्लियों ने कितनी बार लोगों के रास्ते काटे होंगे। किस-किस ने अपना काम रोका। ऐसे तो दुनिया ही रुक जाएगी। काश! वह भी वैज्ञानिक सोच रखता तो पास हो जाता।
इससे यह सीखने को मिलता है कि हम अंधविश्वास में नहीं बल्कि वैज्ञानिक तथ्यों पर विश्वास करना चाहिए andhvishwas Aadmi Ko pagal banata hai.
